The History of Virginian Teas explores the history and rich traditions behind tea in our area. This Open Date class is for a small group of up to 6 people who want to schedule their own private class.
This is an outdoor, foraging-meets-history class.
Your group will learn:
- How Indigenous communities in Williamsburg and the region used plants like yaupon, bayberry, mullein, sassafras and passionflower for ceremony, healing, and daily life
- The ways enslaved Africans adapted to unfamiliar North American plants and created medicinal teas

- 3-4 freshly brewed teas from foraged leaves

- A brief history tour of Jolly's Mill Pond
This outdoor class takes place at Jolly's Mill Pond in Williamsburg, VA. In the event of inclement weather (thunderstorms or heavy rain), we'll reschedule the class.
