About Us

This is the reason Jolly's Farmstand exists.
This is the 19th century farmhouse on our historic property, Jolly's Mill Pond Farm in Williamsburg, Virginia... And it's also the reason why we packed up our 2-bedroom, Brooklyn apartment and moved to Virginia 14 years ago.
We were going to become third-generation owners of mostly raw land in Virginia and had no clue how were going to make it work. We knew that farming would be part of our plan, but we didn't know how that would happen.
We were also dealing with a multi-million dollar state mandate and looming community outrage...
Plus, our land had a largely unknown Black history tied to Colonial Williamsburg and other points in early Virginia.
We had a major story to tell.
And many, many things that we were about to discover.
So what's the pie connection?
As we were sifting through thousands of tucked away knick-knacks, mementos, and antiques, I found several, old family recipes and cookbooks. They were packed with so many interesting recipes that I realized that we had to start creating products that were inspired by heritage... heritage of our property and foodway.
At our core, we are culinary heritage educators or we teach history with food. Some of the history we share is well-known, some of it isn't. Whenever we can, we shine a light on the Black & Indigenous culinary heritage of our foodway. As we grow, this will be reflected in all of our prepared foods, classes, and specialty crops.
So thank you for your interest in Jolly's Farmstand! Every Jolly's Farmstand purchase supports our work in culinary heritage education.
